Libido

The female libido is often misunderstood, oversimplified, and a hundred years ago was thought by many not to exist.  I’ve been on my own personal journey of discovery and learnings and, through this, I feel female libido and sexual desire are often shrouded in shame and misconceptions, and I want to change this.

The project began with me writing a letter to my libido, and I have set up a portal here so that women can also submit anonymous letters to their libido. These letters will take me on an explorative, creative journey to create a series of images.

These artworks will become an exhibition/book/magazine and will be presented alongside the text from the letters to ‘My Libido’.  I want to encourage conversations, raise awareness, and help women feel more empowered to talk about and understand their bodies and desires.

Within my own friendships, I find that many women don’t feel comfortable discussing this subject, and my aim is to create a body of work that will allow women to hear the voices of other women and feel unified in their experiences.
